It's that time of year again for the NWS Skywarn Appreciation Day. The date for the event is Dec. 3rd 6pm thru Dec. 4th 6pm. This event goes the full 24 hours and is a way for the NWS to say Thank You for all you do in assisting with "Ground Truth" reports that help save the lives and property of our communities. This is a greast way to meet the NWS employess that are behind the scenes providing us the information during severe weather events.

I have been attending these events every year since I have become a ham and always have a great time "playing " radio. This is not a contest so their is no pressure to make contacts but it is a great way to hone those HF skills in a relaxed enviroment. All weather service offices around the country will be on the air as well.

If you are interested in going, please go to the http://www.kcnorthares.org website and sign up for the times you will be there. This is so they can plan on the number  of snacks to have on hand and so they don't close early if no one is goimg to be there. (Hasn't happened yet that I know of)

Both NWS offices will be open for this event. The office at KCI and the office in Pleaseant Hill.
