Quick update for Day 2. Caldwell County ARES, Livingston ARES and operator KC0QLU at the Region H MACC provided comm’s and SA for the event as well as hydration to riders from 6am to approx. 4pm. Great job by all involved and looking forward to Day 3.
Just a quick update and thank you to all involved with the Big Bam ride today. Operators from MoValley ARC, NWMOARES and Caldwell county volunteered over 175 man hours today alone! We still have 2 more days of operations!
In an effort to increase APRS coverage for the upcoming BIG BAM Bike Ride, a new IGATE has been setup in Plattsburg to hopefully port the stations along the route to the internet so the MACC officials can see the progress and locations of key resources. This IGATE may become permanent if it appears to do a service to the area.
Also those of you running APRS in our group can set up a message group called “WD0SKY*” and when messages are sent to WD0SKY everyone will receive them at the same time without messaging each person separately. Feel free to try it out as the EOC in Cameron is setup to receive 24/7. Any questions feel free to post here or email KC0QLU at NWMOARES dot ORG.
The Osborn 440 is back up and going, however it’s not a permanent fix.
Also, the Link from Plattsburg to the 440 is back on now.
The Osborn 2M machine is no longer part of the linked repeater network. We felt it was better to leave one repeater as a standalone for local rag chews and also to lessen the wear and tear on the repeater since 2 other repeaters cover the same area.
We now have the Plattsburg 2M, Osborn 440, Hamilton 2M, and Kingston 440 linked together permanently so the net will now be on all 4 repeaters again.

At the NWMOARES meeting today Trevor (kc0qlu) and I did a FSQ/Fldigi demo for the group.
Trevor had his FT-817 connected to a SignaLink to his laptop running Fldigi and FSQcall, this station was called kc0qlu.
I had a UV5R connected to a SignaLink to a raspberry Pi running Fldigi, this station was called wa1ser/p (portable).
At my home QTH, about .4 miles from the meeting site, I had a FT-991 connected to a laptop running FSQcall, this station was called wa1ser/b (base).
Both stations, kc0qlu and wa1ser/p, were able to contact each other and wa1ser/b. Both stations were able to contact w0oem, in KC, by relaying through wa1ser/b. A successful multi-hop connection was made from kc0qlu to wa1ser/p to wa1ser/b to w0oem and back. The group then discussed FSQcall, Fldigi, Flmsg, Flwrap, Flarq, NBEMS, EMCOMM and the progress that FSQCALL-KC has made in this area.
The NWMO ARES Group annual party is December 12th 2:00pm at the Washington Street Food and Drink restaurant in Cameron, MO. The location is at the corner of 36 Hwy and 69 Hwy beside the Burger King. Hope to see everyone there as well as your family. This event is open to the public so feel free to invite your friends and family. We will introduce the new Pres and Vice Pres and then enjoy food and fellowship. We have reserved the meeting room that holds about 25 people so we would love to fill it up.
For those of you that receive QST magazine you may recall an article about FSQ (Fast Simple QSO). I have downloaded the program and would like to get a couple people to try it out on HF in the evenings. It works while you are away so testing can be done even with no one at the other end. There are several videos online about setup and use so if you are interested please give them a look and let me know if you are interested. There are several features that I think would benefit ARES.

There is a new 2M repeater in our area. It is located in Hamilton MO and is on 146.745- pl 141.3. It is permanently linked to the Osborn repeater network. This repeater should give us better coverage to the NE for folks in Chillicothe and Trenton.
Within the next week or so we will have Hamilton, Kingston, Osborn and Plattsburg repeaters inked 24/7. This will give us a large foot print of coverage area without relying on the internet for linking and give us the ability to have a more regional net as well. We hope to keep expanding our system into the entire NWMO area.
