Missouri Days Saturday 10-17-2015

October 14th, 2015 | Uncategorized | 0 Comments

This Saturday is the Missouri Days event in Trenton, MO. Glen Briggs KB0RPJ Grundy Co. EMD is requesting assistance with this event again this year. There will be several more bands in the parade which means more spectators too. We have been asked to provide SA for the parade and at the fairgrounds. There will be a pre-event meeting at 7:15a at the EOC for briefings and assignments. The parade will begin at 8:15a and should be done around 10:30a. After the parade we will meet back at the EOC and get instructions for locations to monitor throughout the day.

We can still use a few more operators for this event so we can rotate operators in and out for breaks and food. If you can help for an hour or more come on up and enjoy a great event.

All that is required is a handheld, and a reflective vest and a desire to help. The weather is going to be cool in the morning and should warm up in the afternoon so dress accordingly.

Hope to see you there!

Plattsburg Repeater Update

September 1st, 2015 | Uncategorized | 1 Comment

The new ADR interface for the repeater is back on the air. There was an issue with the circuit board from ARCOM and was repaired under warranty. The repeater is now linked to the Osborn repeaters and the Kingston repeater is linked to Plattsburg. Sunday night nets will now be on all 4 repeaters again, and all 4 are linked 24/7.

With the new interface installed the repeater will only send analog traffic over the linked repeaters. However, the repeater is still digital capable and will work as a standalone with no linking when digital is being used.

We have been running at 20 watts and plans are in the near future to add an amp to increase power to 60 watts, this will make the receive and transmit circles closer to the same area. Right now the repeater is receiving much better than transmit. An attenuater will need to be ordered to make the input power compatible with the amp.

Any questions about the repeater functions or issues that you notice please contact kc0qlu (at) nwmoares.org.

Plattsburg Repeater Antenna Replacement Complete

May 2nd, 2015 | Uncategorized | 0 Comments

Thanks to several people the Plattsburg 2M repeater now has an improved antenna and so far reports have been very good as far as coverage and signal quality. The new System Fusion repeater from Yaesu is doing quite well at 20W. Feel free to try it out and send reports to kc0qlu@nwmoares.org so we can get a feel for coverage area and audio reports.

The repeater is NOT linked and is functioning as a stand alone repeater until we get the controller interface ordered and installed. This may take 3-4 weeks to arrive so any weather nets will be conducted on the other 3 linked repeaters; in Osborn on the 2M and 70cm and on the Kingston 70cm.

April 27th, 2015 | Uncategorized | 0 Comments

Members will be replacing antennas at Plattsburg and Osborn repeaters, weather permitting, on Friday 5-1-2015 at 3 pm. If you are available to assist come on by. There is always a need for ground control. We have 3 climbers so a few guys to help with ropes and setup would be great.

New Yaesu Repeater ON the AIR!

April 7th, 2015 | Uncategorized | 0 Comments

Our Yaesu System Fusion repeater is installed on the Plattsburg repeater! It is set to AUTO on receive and FM FIXED on transmit until a few more people get digital radios. We have it set at 20Watts for now as we test it out and if all goes well we will probably set it to 50w. It is hearing very well but at 20w its not transmitting as far as it receives but until we see how the system works we dont want to mess things up. Battery backup will be installed today and later we will put it on an external controller. We are not connected to the other NWMO ARES repeaters yet so please keep that in mind should severe weather nets be held.

ENJOY!
